THE BURDOCKS - I HAVE A MILLION FRIENDS CD The 2002 debut release from Halifax rockers, The Burdocks. "Listening to their first full-length album, “I Have A Million Friends”, serves as a pleasant reminder of the days when Halifax was a hotbed of great indie-rock acts like Sloan, Thrush Hermit, and Eric's Trip. The lo-fi recording, fuzzy guitars, and pop hooks almost make me a little misty-eyed." -Film Junk. Features future members of Dog Day, Play Guitar, and more! $12.00

CAREER SUICIDE - ATTEMPTED SUICIDE CD It's hard to believe but after five years and a whole slew of vinyl, Toronto's Career Suicide have produced their finest record yet! The combination of machinegun drumming from Brandon Ferrell (Direct Control, Government Warning) and raw but crystal clear production from Jon Drew (Fucked Up "generation" and "Hidden World") make this CD a classic. Career Suicide manages to combine catchy 'Killed By Death' styled punk sing alongs like the title track and the raw speed and power of early hardcore whilst overwhelmingly maintaining and refining their own sound. Superb songwriting is definitely the key; there are no thirty-second-thrash filler songs here! You will find this whole CD permanently roaring through your brain. It is tighter, louder, harder, and more realized than any of the Career Suicide releases which preceded it, so do yourself a favor and pick up the best but hopefully not last CD from Career Suicide. $10.00

CUBAN ASSASSINS CD This is a release from Halifax dirt rockers The Cuban Assasins. Nine tracks of pure filth-rock glory with punk rock ideals. Listen to this album with your rowdy friends thrusting fists dawning satans horns to the air! This is pure rock n roll fun. $5.00

DOG DAY - NIGHT GROUP CD Hot on the heels of their delightful 7" 'Lydia', TomLab's latest pop hope Dog Day have delivered on that promise, producing an album packed with similarly excellent tunes, and a sophisticated, typically Canadian indie rock countenance. 'Career Suicide' is somewhere between Sonic Youth at their most melodic and Death Cab For Cutie's mainstream-ready alt-rock template. It's an absolute winner of a track, certainly not the sort of thing you'd expect from a label who have only just unleashed the latest album of lunatic electro croon from Khan, for example. Instead, Dog Day dish out a very sober kind of alternative pop music, laden with hallmarks of classic bands like The Smiths and the aforementioned Sonic Youth (whose influence over independent rock music seems to have reached an all-time high lately). Dog Day offer a great deal of promise in Night Group - clearly a band to keep an eye on. $14.00 OUR PICK!!

EVICTION PARTY CD Twelve tracks of growly, poppy, 90's influenced punk. Includes the over requested, accidentally titled, song about moving, "Echo Beach". $3.00 - 5.00 Sliding Scale

GHOST MICE - LIVE AT THE NEST CDR Ten tracks by Ghost Mice plus some bonus stuff all recorded live in Bridgeport CT. at a Bandit potluck show in an old factory in early 2006. Ghost Mice offer fun and heart felt traditional folk (punk) songs. Vocals, guitar, violin, ukelele and a bunch of foot stomping kids singing along. Hand coloring on each cover-no two alike.$8.00

THE HOLD - NEED CD The Hold plays old school hardcore with hyper-speed rhythm changes, political lyrics, and endless guitar attack. Need pays tribute to past hardcore giants like Black Flag and Negative Approach, but also tries to take the genre somewhere new. This album has sold out a number of times, and continues to gain Hold fans around the world. Members of Dog Day, Husband & Knife, + More.. $10.00

HUSBAND/KNIFE - WELCOME BACK... CD Husband and Knife is the urban, folk music of Halifax’s KC Spidle. Since the mid ‘90s, KC has played a central role in many important Halifax bands including Dog Day, The Hold, and Made in the World. But Husband and Knife is his most uncompromised songwriting effort. Switching between electric bass and acoustic guitar, he sings about drugs, girls, crime, and death. $12.00

JOHNNY HOBO / MANTITS - LOVE SONGS... CDR Just when everything else seems to be an attempt to copy the latest cool thing, Johnny Hobo & Mantits dish out something truly revolutionary. Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains offer 9 non-electric songs that maintain the energy and rawness that punk was founded on. They'll have you sining along and provide a persective of the punk/anarchist idea that many are afraid to even appraoch. It will make you think, laugh, and possibly piss you off. 40oz nihilism with a shot of politics and a healthy punch to the face make this something to hide from your parents (if Ghost Mice was getting drunk on a bus with Leftover Crack and picked up the Mountain Goats and a stranger with a bag full of coffee & narcotics you'd have a hint of what to expect here.) Mantits provides a solo approach to the situation with 9 songs that redifine the meaning of everything. A mastermind without a doubt, he provides intelligent sarcasim while disecting the problems of the human race. He tells you how it is with witty cynicism and humor; leaving you either shocked or begging for more. If anyone was to ever write a soundtrack of love songs for the (apocalypse) end times, Mantits would get the first shot at it. Everything you were afraid to admit about yourself (and the human race) can be revealed through him. $8.00

JUAN LOVE - THE DAWN OF PARADISE CD Ten tracks of spastic indie-rockoriginally from Charlottetown, PE but transplanted to Halifax, NS. Juan Love consists of Christina Clorey, Dominique Taylor, Brad Deighan, Matt Mongraw, Greg Boone and Haley Thomas. Someone once described their musical style as a plurality of stylistic interludes arising from interzone, in which narrative continues to find and lose itself in a great continuum of fragmentation and integrated inconsistensies. Recorded by Stephan MacLeod (Windom Earle fame). $10.00

JUST BARELYS - TOP CDEP The Just Barelys began in 2000 as a recording project by Stephen Kelly. For the self titled debut Kelly invited a host of collaborators to contribute to individual recorded songs. The resulting record was well received, reaching #20 on Chartattack and #23 on the Earshot (Campus/Community Radio) national charts. Eleanor King was one of those collaborators. Stephen paired with Eleanor in recent years and and recorded the new EP titled Top in 2005. The songs are simple yet musically peculiar. King plays drums, keyboards, and sings harmonies while (songwriter) Kelly plays banjo, electric guitar, bass guitar, accordion, computer, air-organ, and a variety of original/home-made acoustic and electronic musical instruments. For much of 2006, the two were joined by multi-instrumentalist Stephen Evans for a collection of first-time-ever live Just Barelys performances. In 2007, Stephen and Eleanor continue to perform as a duo, as though there is no such thing as stage fright. $10.00

THE MAYNARDS - STOLE YOUR... CD Halifax dance/rock trio dish out ten songs in just over twenty three minutes to help you light up the dance floors. The recordings, for the most part, were all done at the Maynards practice space on Heath's four track and kindly mixed by Ron Bates. $14.00

THE MEDIUM MOOD - NEW ALARM CD The Medium Mood is comprised of Adam Hartling, Andrew Gordon MacPherson and Chad Peck. Blending an aggressive dissonance with glowing melodies, the group recently completed work on their debut full length, New Alarm (Noyes Records, 2007). The album's eleven dynamic tracks build from a whisper to a howling wall of noise, all the whole focusing on strongly written songs. $10.00

MUSEUM PIECES - CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE CD The Museum Pieces are from Halifax, Nova Scotia, comprising of singer/guitarist Tyler Messick, and drummer/pianist Andy March, often joined by bassist Christian Simmons. With a rotating cast of Halifax musicians, the Museum Pieces tend toward sudden shifts in sound and style, from folk-rock to triumphant post-punk, while maintaining a balladeers approach to lyricism and songwriting. $14.00

ORCHID CD The final recordings of Orchid. These nineteen tracks are probably the best songs that Orchid ever recorded. Their sound has been honed and defined, and the recording perfectly captures Orchid's diverse combination of arty sensibilities, heartfelt emotive song writing, Mohinder-esque drumming, frantic precision, controlled mayhem, and chaotic adrenaline. An excellent record that even surpasses their previous releases. Definitely Orchid's opus. Both the CD and LP come packaged in gatefold sleeves. The various Orchid members have gone on to form Bucket Full of Teeth, the Wolves, and the Panthers. $14.00

SHOTGUN JIMMIE - THE ONLYS CD With the careful first steps of "Duet", Shotgun Jimmie's sophomore solo effort, The Onlys, lurches to life with hushed tones and echoing drums. Throughout the rest of the album's thirteen songs, melodies build and fall into the arms of warm guitars and organic rhythms. Hearts break and distance grows until all that is left is quiet hum from a farmhouse at the end of a dirt road... ex- Shotgun & Jaybird.. $14.00

THE SUPERFANTASTICS - POP UP BOOK CD The explosive and sugar-coated 2007 release from Halifax natives the Superfantastics. "Pop-Up Book could well be one of this year's best Canadian debuts. Bristling with amiable pop hooks and memorably comic lyrics and somehow including a song about Facebook that doesn't make you want to vomit out of your fingertips, it's an easygoing blast from start to finish." - Eye Weekly "Pop-Up Book features some of the most honeyed, sentimental, coyly written pop tunes since Halifax's explosive Murderecords days. Hints of Sloan's Twice Removed and Thrush Hermit's Clayton Park-era pop-culture commentaries seep into the 10-track anthology, while glimmers of The Hollies, Turtles and The Beach Boys illuminate the album's sense of timelessness..." - The Coast. $12.00

SWORDS CD Four song debut of the epic Swords from Newfoundland, Canada. Swords play sweeping arrangements of calculated hardcore/metal that will bring you to the edge of the cliff and dangle your body over the side before violently pushing you off. Ex members of Beaumont Hamel. Swords will knock you on your ass with this thirty three+ minute release. $10.00

THIS BIKE IS A PIPE BOMB - FRONTSEAT SOLIDARITY CD This is the second full length release from This Bike Is A Pipe Bomb and its straight great. Terry sings lead on one song and the whole band is really perfect. 14 songs that will make you smile and dance like a idiot... aka, folk punk at it's finest. This BIke Is A Pipe Bomb are creating some of the most spirited songwriting and performances out there today. The Pensacola, FL trio pretty much own this genre entirely.. $12.00

TORSO / UNICORN - SPLIT CD Unicorn is the solo work of American noise veteran Bill Nelson (Bastard Noise, Sleestak). Torso is the blistering noise of Halifax's Sandy Saunders. This 70 + minute split explores minimal drone, deafening power, and all the spaces inbetween. The cover design and custom printing is by Bill's Thumbprint press. $14.00

TORSO CDR On this sixty minute debut, Torso balances brutal noise, ambience, and drone to deliver an unsettling epic of darkness. Sandy Saunders (aka Torso) began exploring sound five years ago. He quickly developed an impressive aptitude for generating harsh noise and brutal vocals. With an ever expanding arsenal of custom built machines and electronics, he has created an array of dark, epic compositions both live and recorded. $10.00

V/A - DIE LIKE AN ANIMAL DIES COMPILATION CDR Die Like An Animal Dies is a compilation of noise and other fringe music from Nova Scotia. Using modified electronics, eavesdropping, laptops, broken guitars, short-wave, manipulated vocals, live improvisation and everything in between, the eleven artists on this album confront the boundaries of music. Tracks by: Torso, Andrew Duke, Dogs of Art, Shit Cook, Jef Jef, Thee Meujicians, Cut Off Tail, Round Sounds, S-Slaytor, GACK, and Hellophase. $14.00

VENNT CD The latest offering from Divorce is Vennt, an unnerving exploration of gloom. Sandy Saunders (aka Torso) fronts the project with some of his most harrowing electronics and vocal performances to date. He's joined by Divorce boss Darcy Spidle on three piece drums and the band's mastermind Jordan Hines on bass. The music draws on a unique mix of influences including power electronics, black metal, doom, ambiance, and drone. With this EP, Vennt aimed to produce the heaviest and most bleak offering possible. Minimally packaged in a black, cardboard sleeve and heavy vinyl pouch. $10.00
