The East Coast Music Awards took place in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Canada this past weekend and we were lucky enough to have our very own Aimee Power on the ground covering the events and just having a grand ol' time. JUNNNKtank.com thanks the East Coast Music Association for granting us a Media Pass. The following is the final of a three-part series of ECMA coverage provided by senior contributor Aimee Power.

East Coast Music Awards from Cape Breton March 06.10
My last day at ECMA's was a tired one. I was pretty exhausted from earlier shenanigans but had to get through one more night. The weather was great in Sydney and I had a bottle of wine in my shady hotel room.

First stop of the evening was Governor's Pub. The Forward Music Showcase was on the bill for the evening and as a former resident of Fredericton, I was stoked. Force Fields were first and I hadn't seen them since 2007? 2008? Regardless, I haven't seen them since they were known as the ever controversial "The Fussy Part". I was happy to see they were just as great as I remembered.

After their set, the crowd shuffled upstairs to catch another New Brunswick band called "The Slate Pacific". The crowd was a lot quicker than myself (unfortunately) so I was stuck in the back and thus no pics!

Quickly afterward we knew we had to catch Rich Aucoin just two blocks away. We arrived just in time for his set at the Capri Club, entire group intact! I've talked about Rich on this blog before so it is no secret that I love him, but I am confident he made fifty new fans that night. He bounced around the stage and dance floor and he made everyone shuffle their feet. It reminded me that bars should have more crazy lights and maybe more balloons.

Immediately after his set I trotted my way back to Governor's Pub in time to see another Forward Music Group act, the Sleepless Nights. One thing is for sure: they were freakin' loud for this space. I really liked their set even though I felt the crowd was slowly engulfing me. Everyone was in good spirits and it was a happy way to end my night, and my weekend.

2011: ECMA's in Charlottetown. Everyone, get your shit together.
