Rich Aucoin from Evolve July 17.09
This year was my third Evolve and I was happy to see lots more local bands being added to the bill that didn't fall within the "jam band" category. One of which was Rich Aucoin. I had first witnessed one of his sets last summer during the first HFF and was pretty blown away by the one rockin' dude. I wasn't really sure how he would translate from living room show to a big stage, but my expectations were surpassed tenfold.

The sun was just starting to go down when he took to the stage, and I saw six figures, dressed completely in white. That was when I really started to get excited. I wasn't expecting a full band, but oh my did it ever translate well. Their energy was through the roof from the start of the festival, and once their first song came out, I could see piles of people running from their campsites to stage side to see what we were cheering about. The band danced around the stage, playing off each other's animated dance moves and made sure everyone in the crowd joined in on the fun.

I'm going to let my inner hippie out and just say that dancing to a great band, in a big field at sunset is a great feeling. It gave me that big push I needed to get truly pumped for the rest of the weekend. His myspace ~myspace.com/richaucoin~ tells me that he will be back on Prince Edward Island on August 21st. Get your dancing attire ready, people.
