Rah
Rah
from Hunter's Ale House October 07.09
I
have nothing but great things to say about this band. I know,
I know, you've heard me blather on about being in love with bands
before, but honestly I like these guys lots. So much, that I made
all of my girlfriends drink wine with me and venture out on a
Wednesday night at Hunter’s Ale House. I've followed the
band Sylvie for years, and was happy to see a reincarnation of
one of my favourite prairie bands come near my neck of the woods.
I purchased their first album "Going Steady" at a show
in Calgary a few months back, and I’m so lyrically in tune
with it since it hasn’t left my car CD player in weeks.
Their
live show is even better than the album. It's the type of show
where you don't have to be embarrassed about screaming the words
along with them. I love yelling "In Reginaaaaaa, Saskastchewaaaaaan"
in unison with these lovely folks during their song "Duet
for Emmylou and The Grievous Angel". Shouting geographical
locations reminds me of seeing the Weakerthans, and that is a
giddy, giddy feeling. With all of this choral fun, there is also
lots of heart, soul and upbeat fun that comes with their music
and that's what makes me happy to be labeled a "Rah Rah fan".
