1. Please introduce ATSC and give a bit of background info:
...And The Saga Continues is Steve on guitar,
the Fridge on drums, and myself Jonah on bass
and vocals. ...ATSC has been around since 2000, before that the
band was called One Step Away and had 4 members, the bassist Dave
left the band so I joined, we changed our name
and decided to become way faster and way harder. A little before
our first tour our singer at the time,
Chris decided he wasn't coming, so I took over on vocals as well.
Before One Step Away, Steve and myself played in another band
together called All The Answers. Steve and the Fridge have been
playing together in many different bands over the years because
they grew up together.
2. What is it that sets your band apart from others?
First of all we play harder than just about every other "hardcore"
band out there today, besides that it seems like most bands these
days like to follow a formula. We don't follow any formula or
trends, and in this day and age that sets us apart.
3. What are your major influences?
For me Minor Threat, the Dead Kennedys, Agnostic Front, the Ramones,
Suicidal Tendencies, DRI, Bad Brains. Even though we don't really
sound very much like any of these bands, they're the ones that
influenced me to play music in the first place.
4. What kind of message do you hope to get across?
I sing about my life and what I see in the world, whether it's
corrupt government, our fucked up health care system, or getting
wasted with my friends. There's no one message we're trying to
get across, it's just about sharing my prespective on what I see
and how I feel about many different things. I do feel it's important
for hardcore/punk bands to say something, and I feel the majority
of the bands around today don't have a whole lot to say.
5. What's the strangest thing that's happened at an ATSC show?
People didn't run out of the venue with their hands over their
ears.
6. If ATSC had a polar opposite band, who would it be?
I don't listen to much new music, maybe a Simple Plan.
7. What can we expect from the band in the future?
Right now we're writing a full length record, it will probably
be done by the end of the year. Since we're working on the record
we won't be touring until probably January of next year, but we
will be playing shows around Quebec and Ontario throughout the
summer.
