The Right Crowd from Remnants
The
Right Crowd have had an interesting run. The bands bass player
Calvin Monaghan explains the history the Right Crowd: "The
band started in late 2007 by Brennan Moore after leaving local
pop-punk band Syracuse Me. He wanted to play something more melodic
and when the school year began he started his hunt for his future
band mates. after a series of jams Josh formerly of disbanded
local band Rippin Hammer was employed as vocalist. The Right Crowd
played their first show in December of 2007. Due to a series of
reasons The Right Crowd was never able to play off island and
a second demo was rushed together before founding member Brennan
moved to Toronto. The band played their "last" two shows
in July and August of 2008 and Brennan moved away." The story
seemed to be over there, but in mid June 2009 the band who refused
to let distance tear them apart made a major announcement: an
Eastern Canada Summer Tour for July 2009. The band that everyone
counted out is back and ready to bring their posi jams to your
town and rock out once again!
1.
Who are The Right Crowd, and what does the band mean to you?
Right Crowd to me means five people who really had nothing in
common outside of the band that have grown to know each other
through the power of positivity and positive music.
2.One of the
things that strikes me about The Right Crowd is the uplifting
lyrics and all around positivity. What are some of the things
you try to communicate through your music and what do you consider
worth fighting for?
Originality. No impersonations. Words straight from the heart
and how you feel at the time of the written song. It's the same
with chord structure. I don't write a song because I want it to
sound somewhat like a song I've already heard. I don't mind getting
ideas from music that I listen to, but the chords that I write
and how I put them together come straight from the emotion that
I feel when I play our songs. It's like hooking my nerves up to
my guitar with booster cables. I personally think originality
is worth fighting for. And that being a "weirdo" is
great as long as you're not trying to be one.
3.You're a
band that refuses to die, though members are spread out across
the country you'll be doing a short summer tour this July. What
made you decide to go back out on tour this summer?
Josh

5.What's up
next for the band? Will you be going back to sleep after the summer
tour and do you have any final words?
As humans, our feelings towards certain things change with the
world around us. I'm not sure what's next, but I'm going to go
deep down and say that I think everyone on this earth loves someone/something.
We are an example of that love. We love to be happy and make other
people happy while we do our songs. I really think that there's
always room for that no matter what the genre.
