1.
Please Introduce The Robots and give a bit of background history.
A band of liars and thieves. We picked up arms in the year of
1995 after hearing primo rock band 'Lit' play live for the very
first time. Then we knew that music was our destiny.
With Lit as our holy grail, we were spurred on to enter a local
poetry contest, winning fifty dollars. Armed with fifty dollars
worth of gear, we enlisted band members from a local madrigal
singing group. The rest is history.
2. What does The Robots mean to you?
We once knew a great man named Jeff Robots, a local philanthropist
who played hockey. This man, now deceased, was such a major father
figure in all of our lives that we all decided to dedicate our
lives to his memory. Thus, the Robots - a poor tribute to a great
man.
3. After being together for over five years, what drives you to
play music together as The Robots?
Strong sexual tension.
4.
What can people expect from your debut ep Good Hart Worker?
The sound of a small nervous man shivering in the cold.
5.
What's been your most memorable live show to date?
When we finally got to open for our heroes 'Lit' on their February
Atlantic Canadian World Tour of 2004. They didn't like our music.
The CD launch was OK too.
6. Can you tell us a little bit about your tentative plans to
tour with The Danks?
Um, we will take the world with two hands and throw it with one.
We will go as far and wide as we can. We will push it. (The plans
are pretty tentative right now).
7. What is your favourite dance party song?
We would say that right now Akiko Yano's song 'Canton Boy' would
be a pick (that's actually a real song).
Also anything by 'Lit'.
