Since 2008
From
time to time I'm fortunate enough to remember to bring along my video
camera. The videos are mostly taken from shows on Prince Edward Island,
but there are few from Sappyfest '08 in Sackville, New Brunswick as
well. Unfortunately I haven't always had a video camera so no videos
exist of older shows. Bummer

Bad
Vibrations from Ampersand
Here's a video from Halifax punk group Bad Vibrations
live from Ampersand in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
on November 28th, 2009. The band sure impressed during their first
of hopefully many shows on our litte Island. Here's
what was said about the entire night shortly following the show...
hmm,
let's see. Rad bands? Check. Killer venue? Check. Totally awesome
carpet? Fuck yeah! Saturday night was a bllllast. I don't think I've
stopped smiling ever since --well, I may have for a moment while talking
to the police, but wait, no, even then I was smiling. --They were
just checking in to see what was up, no big deal.

Cheers
To Beers from Ampersand
Holiday Homecoming at Ampersand on the 28th of December
included the return of Charlottetown street punk legends Cheers to
Beers. It was a wild time as nearly one hundred and fourty kids filed
into the store the night. The dancing during Cheers to Beers was down
right vicious; we wouldn't have it any other way. Kyle
Manning shot a tonne of videos during their set. You can check them
all out right here: youtube.com/user/applicableone.
Thanks for th videos, Kyle. We posted a few of our favourites.

Chief
Thundercloud from HFF#1
Chief
Thundercloud kicked off the HFF weekend with an inspirational set at Lyons House. It was the first
time Chief Thundercloud had played in Charlottetown and he knocked
everyone over by his raw and sincere ditties.

Clavical from HFF#1
HFF or High Fives Forever was a three day house show
/ alt venue festival we put on in the late summer of 2008. More than
a year later the videos just keep poppin' up. This is a real special
video. Here's the deal: It was rumoured that Boxer The Horse
were to play the final house show on the Sunday of the festival. Unfortunately
they weren't able to play but those fine folks who crowded into Lyon's
House on that evening were treated to the next best thing, Clavical!
Comprised of sometimes half, sometimes three quarters of Boxer
The Horse, (led primarily by Jeremy on guitar and Andrew on keys)
Clavical treated all in attendance to a fun acoustic set.
Boxer The Horse fans may recognize a few of these hot numbers!.

Cold
Warps from the House of Rock
This
is a video from Halifax garage/pop/punk group Cold Warps playing live
from the House of Rock in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
on January 30th, 2010. We
were thrilled to have the guys play for us and they sure did not disappoint.
We recently did an interview with Cold Warps. --You
can read it here--. We also have some photos up from the show
which you can --check
out right here--.

Criminal
Intent from HFF#1
The Saturday night HFF#1 show was aptly named "No
Holes In the Walls Please" as some of the best hc/punk in Atlantic
Canada descended upon the tiny Back Alley Music. Rob
sliced his index finger open earlier in the evening and had to be
rushed to the hospital. He returned to lead CI to an incredible set
to close out the night.

Construction
& Destruction from Ampersand
Between wild flails, crowd surfing, walls of death,
bob shreds, and ill timed dog piles resulting in concussions Construction
& Destruction stopped by to slow things down. The duo delivered
an incredible set driven by emotion and honesty. Everyone sat down
and just watched and listened as the delicate mastery that is Construction
& Destructon unfolded before their eyes.

Living
With Lions from The BIS
Vancouver's Living With Lions came through Prince Edward
Island a few nights ago and absolutely ripped it up at both the BIS
(All Ages) and Hunter's (19+). I was able to take a little video of
them playing to the all ages crowd at the BIS. I'm afraid the audio
isn't the best as it was really loud in the venue. This was a really
wild night complete with nonstop singalongs and a Saves the Day cover!

With
amps piled high to the ceiling Lords of Louisville, Kentucky unleashed their
brand of hardcore to an appreciative crowd at 361 Kent (formerly known

New
Royalty from HFF#1
Party pop don't stop with New Royalty! This was the
final night of the festival; a BBQ / Potluck at Lyons House. I nearly
had a breakdown before the show. Protop: Never put on a festival all
by yourself. This was one of the greatest nights I can remember. This
video features the fantastic Bob Deziel, Aileen Foley, and Meghan
Colvin at the end.

One
Day Late from The Reading Well Bookstore
This
is a bit of a bittersweet video.
On the one side I love that there is footage from the Reading Well
Bookstore and that the great One Day Late are featured in it. Unfortunately
this show seemed to have happened before those Prince Edward Island
kids found their step and realized it was okay to uncross their arms
and dance to a really great band. Oh, how things have changed. Here's
a little slice of history.

Play
Guitar from Sappyfest '08
Play
Guitar adjusted to the relaxed Sackville atmosphere and played a sincere
and toned down set on a Sunday afternoon as summer faded away. Forgotten
were the noisy freakouts I had witnessed from the band in the past.

Slave
Class from 361
I
think this was the very first show that Slave Class played in Charlottetown.
They played alongside Lords from Louisville Kentucky at 361 Kent.
You'd never know it within the house but outside the sun was shining
as the band ripped through song after song of relentless crust.

Story from HFF#1
HFF or High Fives Forever was a three day house show
/ alt venue festival we put on in the late summer of 2008. On Saturday
we had a record fair and show at Cafe Ampersand in downtown Charlottetown.
It was a beautiful day so we got Story to play for us behind the Cafe
under the blue skies..

VideoHippos
from Lyons House
Originally
set for a six o'clock start time, and then moved to eight, and then
to nine, no one seemed to mind as the show ran late; nearing and passing
the midnight hour before all was said and done. Tuesday nights will
never be the same.

Windom
Earle All Stars from the House of Rock
I've
never looked at Windom Earle the same ever since watching the Twin
Peaks TV series. Here is a video of the Windom Earle All Stars
(members of Windom Earle, Jeff Coll Five, Operation Impact, and Juan
Love) playing live from the House of Rock in downtown Charlottetown,
Prince Edward Island on January 30th, 2010. It's
always a good time with Windom Earle. This show was a bit of a homecoming
for Windom Earle in a sense. --You
can read about it here--. We also have some photos up from the
show which you can --check
out right here--..
